Workshop content
The carved songbird is a symbolic and popular object in the Salzkammergut, especially during the Christmas and winter season. Carved and painted, it can be found in miniature as a hat ornament, and in larger versions on Christmas trees and nativity scenes. In many families it is present in the living room all year round as a reminder of a dear family member.
Verena Haidl
Very early Verena Haidl made the decision to develop professionally in the direction of sculpture. A profession away from creativity and art would not be an option for her. Her education led her from the HTBLA in Hallstatt (sculpture) to the Meisterschule für Bildhauerei in Munich.
Her work ranges from traditional carvings to sculptures and modern installations, and it is this range that gives her great pleasure. Dealing with different forms is always an interesting process for Verena: training her own eye, feeling whether a composition or a play of forms harmonises is a daily challenge for her.
